Question 1

What are the standard dimensions of different mattress sizes?

Accepted Answer

Standard mattress sizes in inches are: Twin (38" x 75"), Twin XL (38" x 80"), Full (54" x 75"), Queen (60" x 80"), King (76" x 80"), and California King (72" x 84"). These are standard sizes and may vary by product and/or manufacturer.

Question 2

How can I tell when I need a new mattress?

Accepted Answer

It is likely time for a new mattress when: you have owned your mattress for more than 10 years, you experience morning aches and pains, the mattress edge is no longer supportive, your mattress and box spring make noise when you move, or you and your partner roll together in the bed.

Question 3

What should I consider when shopping for a new mattress?

Accepted Answer

Before shopping, assess your needs: Has your lifestyle changed since buying your last mattress? Has your body changed in ways that affect your support or comfort preferences? How much space do you have for your bed? If you share a bed, does your partner have the same needs? While shopping, consider comfort, support, and durability first, and price after that.

Question 4

How do I test a new mattress?

Accepted Answer

Remove your shoes and lie on the bed. Lie down in several different positions, especially the one you normally sleep in. Pay close attention to lower back support and posture alignment, and make sure you feel plenty of comfort at the shoulders and hips. If you share a bed, bring your partner with you so the selection of your new bed is made together.

Question 5

How important is my sleep position when choosing a new mattress?

Accepted Answer

Your sleep position matters significantly because it affects which pressure points are engaged during sleep and how your spine is supported. Because each person sleeps differently, the best way to find the right mattress and comfort level is to test the different mattresses in our store. If you share a bed, your partner should test options with you so we can make recommendations based on your combined needs.

Question 6

Does a mattress have to be firm to be supportive?

Accepted Answer

No. With modern mattresses, support comes from the innerspring. A common mattress is a hybrid that includes innersprings and foam layers. The comfort layers surrounding the spring system determine the surface feel. Many of our mattresses feature advanced, durable innerspring systems designed to deliver proper spinal support whether the mattress feels firmer or plusher. You can choose the mattress that feels best to you and still receive the support you need.

Question 7

What is the difference between a low profile and a high profile mattress?

Accepted Answer

A high profile (thicker) mattress is a great option if you are a side sleeper, share a bed with a partner, or have a larger body frame, because the extra thickness adds padding around hips and shoulders, reduces motion transfer, and resists sagging. A lower profile mattress is convenient for frequent moves, offers easier accessibility for getting into and out of bed, and is generally less costly and easier to fit with standard sheets.

Question 8

What is the difference between innerspring, hybrid, and all-foam mattresses?

Accepted Answer

Innerspring mattresses feature tempered steel coils in various configurations that provide support, while layers of upholstery provide insulation and cushioning. Hybrid mattresses combine high-density memory foam or latex with an innerspring system to deliver the feel of an innerspring along with the pressure relief of an all-foam bed. All-foam mattresses use latex or viscoelastic memory foam cores as the support system instead of coils.

Question 9

What is the difference between a box spring and a platform bed frame?

Accepted Answer

A platform bed frame eliminates the need for a box spring because it provides a supportive base for your mattress. It is a cost-saving option that is easier to move than a box spring foundation and provides space for storage under the bed. A box spring is essentially a wooden box covered in material designed to support your mattress. Our platform bed frames are durable and built to hold up to 2,500 pounds.

Question 10

Why is it crucial that I purchase a mattress protector?

Accepted Answer

Just like underwear protects your clothing, a mattress protector protects your mattress, helping it last for many years. A protector keeps a protective layer around the mattress so it does not absorb dust mites, skin particles, body sweat, and oils. Waterproof options keep liquids from staining your mattress. Be sure to read the care and cleaning instructions specific to your mattress protector.

Question 11

Why is my mattress sagging?

Accepted Answer

Several factors can cause mattress sagging: an improper bed frame, improper center support, a damaged or bent frame, a damaged or broken box spring, or a mattress that is old and no longer supportive. Using an appropriate bed frame with proper center support and taking good care of your foundation greatly reduces the chances of sagging.

Question 12

Why is it important to keep the Do Not Remove tag on the mattress?

Accepted Answer

While it is not actually illegal to remove this tag, it is still important to keep it attached to the mattress. The information on the label serves as a means of identification if you ever need to make a warranty claim or exchange the mattress during the 120-day trial period.

Question 13

Should I flip or rotate my mattress?

Accepted Answer

Modern mattress technology requires rotating, not flipping. During the first month, rotate your new mattress head to toe once a week. After the first month, rotate the mattress head to toe monthly. Rotating as directed prolongs the life of your mattress and ensures even wear, minimizing body impressions.

Question 14

What is wrong with putting my new mattress on an old box spring or bed frame?

Accepted Answer

Never put a new mattress on an old foundation. A mattress is designed to work best with its companion foundation, and placing a new mattress on an old frame can compromise it and cause uneven wear. We strongly recommend purchasing a new foundation, whether a box spring, platform frame, or adjustable base, when buying a new mattress.

Question 15

Why does my mattress feel different than it did in the store?

Accepted Answer

Like a new pair of shoes, a new mattress needs time to break in. The floor model you tested has been broken in over time, so your brand-new mattress will feel firmer at first. You need to give it time to adjust to your body, which is why we do not perform exchanges before 30 days from the time of delivery.

Question 16

What is the difference between a mattress pad and a mattress protector?

Accepted Answer

A mattress pad consists of quilted or padded layers designed for comfort and absorbency, but it does not offer the same level of protection as a mattress protector. A mattress protector acts as a barrier between your body and the mattress, keeping it free of allergens, body oils, sweat, and spills. At Fosters Mattress, we recommend a mattress protector to help prolong the life of your new mattress. We do not sell mattress pads.

Question 17

What is the difference between a lift chair and a sleep chair?

Accepted Answer

A lift chair provides ease of sitting, reclining, and standing through an automated lift option, but it is not designed for extended sleep or use (occasional naps are fine). A sleep chair also provides a lift option but is engineered for up to 18 hours of daily use, including sleeping.

Question 18

How do I get into and out of my lift chair?

Accepted Answer

To get into your chair, stand next to it, press the chair up or rise button, raise the chair to a height you can sit back against, ease back into the chair, then press the chair down or recline button until the chair is firmly on the floor in the seated position. To get out, press the chair up or rise button, raise the chair to a height that lets you easily stand, release the button, and exit. Once out, return the chair to its seated position to avoid the risk of anyone or anything getting caught underneath.

Question 19

Where should I place my lift chair in my house?

Accepted Answer

Place your chair in the room where it will be most convenient for you, near a television, reading light, end table, or other furniture you want close by. Leave enough space between the back of the chair and any wall so it can recline (about 18 inches for standard models and 25 inches for StellarComfort models). Check the chair's manual for exact specifications. Do not allow any objects to restrict footrest movement.

Question 20

What is the difference between a two-position and a three-position power lift recliner chair?

Accepted Answer

With a two-position lift chair, when the chair reclines and the footrest rises, the angle between the backrest and the seat stays the same. With a three-position lift chair, when reclining, the backrest tilts further back, providing a wider angle between the seat and the backrest. A three-position chair can also recline fully into a sleeper or napper position.

Question 21

Why would I want an adjustable base for my bed?

Accepted Answer

An adjustable base lets you raise and lower both the head and foot of the bed independently for optimal sleep positioning. These bases can help relieve back and hip pain, ease acid reflux, reduce snoring, and assist with sleep apnea, while also providing comfortable positions for reading and lounging. Several models include massage features that help you ease into sleep.

Question 22

Do I need a special mattress or bed frame for an adjustable base?

Accepted Answer

Most mattresses and bed frames are adjustable-base friendly. You should be able to fit your new adjustable base into most existing bed frames and headboards, and nearly every mattress we offer is compatible with our adjustable bases. Talk to us about your specific setup.

Question 23

Do you offer delivery and set-up?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you live in the Cedar Valley, we schedule your delivery for a one-hour window as soon as your order arrives. Delivery, setup, and removal of your old mattress (if desired) is free with purchases of $999 and above. Otherwise, there is a $75 charge for this service. Our delivery team will also set up any purchased frames or adjustable power bases.

Question 24

What is your return or exchange policy?

Accepted Answer

For mattresses, we offer a 120-day adjustment guarantee. You need to allow your body 4 to 6 weeks to adjust to a new mattress before forming a final opinion. Because of this adjustment cycle, exchanges are not performed before 30 days or after 120 days from delivery. We do not offer refunds, but we can exchange your mattress during that window if you are not satisfied. Please review warranty provisions for all purchases, as service requests may incur a charge if not under warranty.

Question 25

What payment options do you provide?

Accepted Answer

We offer several financing options. Synchrony (formerly GE Financial) offers a financing credit card with 0% interest terms for qualifying purchases. Snap Finance Leasing provides lease-to-own financing with no credit needed and multiple payment plans. Shop Pay offers installment payments for orders of $50 or more, either as four interest-free bi-weekly payments or monthly installments with rates from 0% to 36% APR, subject to eligibility.

Question 26

How do I make payments for my financed order?

Accepted Answer

To pay your Synchrony bill, log in to the Synchrony customer portal. To pay your Snap leasing bill, log in to the Snap Finance customer portal. Links to both portals are available on our financing page.
